Give back my memory stick, pls.
Sunday, March 26th, 2006I lost my memory stick with some important files in it….don’t know how and don’t know when. I use it everyday except the past two weeks when I was busy working with something esle. I tried to look for it in every place where I could have possibly misplaced it…at home, in the office and even in the car! I’m not sure I’ll ever find it again but I’m still hoping I would before the week ends. Some of my colleagues borrow it from time to time especially the guy who sits beside me (Our secretary told me that guy does not want to use his personal stick for office work so he is using mine). As expected, when I asked each of my colleagues, nobody borrowed my memory stick and accordingly, it’s been a long time since the last time they did. I’m terribly upset just thinking I have to re-type or re-format my old report to replace my lost files. Now, the only things left to me are the lessons learned:
*Do not store files in the memory stick especially if they important ones
*Always back-up files
*Do not lend your memory stick to anyone especially if that person earns 25,000 riyals a month (1 QAR = 14 PhP or 3.65 QAR = 1 USD and of course tax free); thus can afford to buy even a thousand memory stick. For heaven’s sake, a 128 MB memory stick costs less than 100 riyals. I wonder how can he not afford it when in fact he only eats yogurt for breakfast, a 2-riyal sandwich for lunch and a light dinner which costs maybe another 2 riyals. Even if you are not good in math, if you calculate his expenses, assuming everything at 6 QAR/day for 30 days is only 180 QAR, which is slightly less than 50 dollars. That means, he spends less than 50 dollars for food per month. Looking at the other side of the coin, how do you expect him to spend 100 QAR for a stick when it will deprive him of 2 weeks of food and he can always borrow from me anyways.
I don’t think I’m gonna buy a new stick. Maybe, I’ll borrow from him (if he ever buys one) and lose it as well.
For now, I should end this blog and start re-typing my files.
