Give back my memory stick, pls.

Sunday, March 26th, 2006

I lost my memory stick with some important files in it….don’t know how and don’t know when.  I use it everyday except the past two weeks when I was busy working with something esle.  I tried to look for it in every place where I could have possibly misplaced it…at home, in the office and even in the car! I’m not sure I’ll ever find it again but I’m still hoping I would before the week ends.  Some of my colleagues borrow it from time to time especially the guy who sits beside me  (Our secretary told me that guy does not want to use his personal stick for office work so he is using mine).  As expected, when I asked each of my colleagues, nobody borrowed my memory stick and accordingly, it’s been a long time since the last time they did.  I’m terribly upset just thinking I have to re-type or re-format my old report to replace my lost files.  Now, the only things left to me are the lessons learned:

*Do not store files in the memory stick especially if they important ones

*Always back-up files

*Do not lend your memory stick to anyone especially if that person earns 25,000 riyals a month (1 QAR = 14 PhP or 3.65 QAR = 1 USD and of course tax free); thus can afford to buy even a thousand memory stick.  For heaven’s sake, a 128 MB memory stick costs less than 100 riyals.  I wonder how can he not afford it when in fact he only eats yogurt for breakfast, a 2-riyal sandwich for lunch and a light dinner which costs maybe another 2 riyals.  Even if you are not good in math, if you calculate his expenses,  assuming everything at 6 QAR/day for 30 days is only 180 QAR, which is slightly less than 50 dollars.  That means, he spends less than 50 dollars for food per month.  Looking at the other side of the coin, how do you expect him to spend 100 QAR for a stick when it will deprive him of 2 weeks of food and he can always borrow from me anyways.

I don’t think I’m gonna buy a new stick.  Maybe, I’ll borrow from him (if he ever buys one) and lose it as well.

For now, I should end this blog and start re-typing my files.

Baby…

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Before we got married, I told my husband, I will prefer not to get pregnant in the first two years of our marriage.  But he really wanted to have a baby already so we decided to just let things happen in its own time.  Unfortunately, after more than two years of being together, we are still childless.  The doctors told us there’s really no problem we just need the right timing.  I only wanted two years and it’s more than two years now.  I hope we’ll have a baby soon!

Night Shift No More

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Today is my husband’s last night shift.  Begining Sunday, he will work as day staff.  Honestly, I couldn’t sleep whenever he is working night shift that’s why I am really happy with his new schedule.  At least, now I know that each night, he will be beside me and each night I’ll have a restful sleep.  But here’s the catch, with his new position, he needs to bring his car everyday! meaning - - - - I need to rent or buy my own car.

You maybe wondering why it is such a big deal for me not to have a car.  The answer is simple - because there are no reliable public transportation here in Doha.  Second, since almost all roads are under construction in preparation of 2006 Asian Games, TAXIS (if you are lucky to find one) doesn’t want to go to areas where heavy traffic is normally experienced (the main road to my home is one perfect example!).  Today, I went to the doctor and I waited for almost one hour just to get a cab wiling to go to my place. Gosh….it’s really horrible!!!  I don’t want this to be an everyday scenario!  I need a car!

This Blog is for Jane…hope she’ll read this!

Since I started blogging, three of my blogs was commented by someone named Jane who is in my extended network.   I don’t know who among in my network is her friend but definitely, I don’t know who she is.  I tried to view her profile but unfortunately, it is restricted to people who are not in her network.

She posted 3 comments, two of which are really sarcastic.  She first commented my blog entitled Computers and she said my blog was boring.  Then more recently, she commented  in my blog entitled Valentine’s Gift and said that I should go staright to the point, I want to brag that I did a good job.

Let me tell you Jane that if you find my blog boring then don’t read it.  If you have read my very first post, I wrote there that I am blogging to practice writing.  I don’t write a blog to entertain you or any other readers.  I am merely expressing my frustration whenever I encounter problems with computers.

With regard to your second comment, I don’t think you know me enough to give such comment.  It may have given you the impression that I just wanna brag about it but you don’t know me and you don’t know my job so I don’t think you have any right to judge me according to what you have read only.  Besides, if my intention is just to sing my own praises, there are better topics than that one and I’ll have a hundred blogs by now.

You know Jane, do one thing, STOP reading my blogs.  It’s not for you to read.
